Who Me?

“For His Honor” by Kay Rizzo was a book our family found difficult to put down. Because of his dyslexia and criticism from a school teacher Terry Johnson felt inadequate but his mother believed in him and so did Jesus.

Through a miraculous series of events after Terry joined the Air Force, he was selected to be a member of the White House Honor Guard for President Reagan but even more importantly he was positioned by Jesus to testify of his faith in Jesus Christ before influential people in the military. Plus, his testimony and his book have touched the lives of thousands. Had Terry been told God’s plan for his life prior to his rise to fame I can imagine he would say, “Who, Me?”

My friend Christ has chosen you to be a world changer! He believes in you too. While I can’t tell you how wide your influence might be someday, the important thing is to begin where you are. You may not feel equipped to effectively give a Bible study or teach but there is something you can share if indeed you have experienced it. It is summarized in our churches new vision statement: “Every member spreading the transformative message of Jesus' unfailing love”

Jesus’ counsel to the demoniac of Gadara, that longed to follow Jesus around with the rest of the twelve, captures what He is calling you and me to do: "Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you."-- Mark 5:19 NKJV.

This is not a burden when our hearts are renewed! It is a new impulse that comes with a renewed heart. “The spirit of Christ is a missionary spirit. The very first impulse of the renewed heart is to bring others also to the Saviour.” - The Great Controversy, p. 70.

There is an old song I used to sing as a teen titled “Pass it On” that portrays this experience very well, consider a few phrases from that song:

“That's how it is with God's love,

Once you've experienced it

You spread His love to everyone

You want to pass it on”
